As you may or may not be aware Facebook’s F8 developer conference was April 30 – May 1, and you never quite know what you’re going to get from the social media titan. That held true again this year as the overwhelming theme, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is that “the future is private.”
Interesting, considering the bottomless data mine of personal information that Facebook has become. But that’s not what this post is about is it?
During the conference Zuckerberg announced an update he calls “FB5” that included changes to not just Facebook but also to Instagram.
AND drumroll ……the changes are here
The 5 biggest announcements (READ CHANGES) from the conference are:
FACEBOOK IS BEING REDESIGNED AROUND GROUPS AND EVENTS
because we all need to be more social on social media right?
INSTAGRAM HAS NEW CAMERA FEATURES AND LESS PROMINENT LIKES
yay new camera features and yah that’s fine just take away the thing we marketers are really trying to achieve the “likes” its fine, we’re really fine with this 😛
FACEBOOK MESSENGER WILL FOCUS ON “CLOSE FRIENDS” asset management,
not sure what that means because it is in parenthesis but were interested
THE OCULUS RIFT S AND OCULUS QUEST ARRIVE NEXT MONTH
because surprise Oculus is also owned by the big F
And last but not least for all our single friends out there FACEBOOK IS GOING TO HELP YOU HOOK UP WITH YOUR CRUSH
we know what you’re really interested in so you can read more about this update here
So all in all these changes are not necessarily bad but they are all changes and well change is (choose your adjective) scary/fun/exciting/imminent
This is all the tasty bits, but if you want to dive in even deeper, check out this summary from The Verge.
